Giving back is an important part of our philosophy here at Mosaic Art. We will donate a fixed percentage of each transaction to a specified charity or non-profit organization during specifically designated months. We feel that it is important to help others in their time of need. Each charity or non-profit organization designated to receive donations during a specific month will be listed below. We want our giving to be clear and transparent. When buying a product from Mosaic Art, you will always know exactly what amount is being donated and where it is going so that you to be confident in your purchase from us. For each item ordered between November 20th and December 20th 2017, 10% of the purchase price will be donated to The Beautiful You MRKH Foundation (BYMRKH).
Like myself until a couple of years ago, you may have never heard of MRKH, and may be wondering what it is and why we have chosen this non-profit organization to “Give back”. Well, BYMRKH was created by my good friend Amy Lossie, Ph.D (President and CEO of BYMRKH). I first met Amy when we were post-doctoral fellows together at Baylor College of Medicine. Amy was diagnosed with MRKH as a teenager but never shared her diagnosis with anyone, except close family. That was until about 2012 when she started BYMRKH as a non-profit foundation. Opening her heart to the world she created a place for women with MRKH, and their families, to meet and seek support and not feel so alone. In doing so she has transformed the lives of many women and is a shining light to us all.
Below is some important information about BYMRKH and why your donations are so important to young girls and women of all ages who are devastated by a diagnosis of MRKH and need to connect with those who know what it feels like. Being able to meet those who can guide, support and mentor them is an invaluable opportunity:
The Beautiful You MRKH Foundation (www.beautifulyoumrkh.org), a 501c3 charity, supports people affected by Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser Syndrome (MRKH). MRKH is a congenital birth defect characterized by incomplete development of the female reproductive tract (e.g. uterus, cervix, and upper vaginal canal) and results in primary infertility. We promote self-esteem, and empower girls and women with MRKH to embrace their beauty, just as they are. We welcome members from around the world, and believe that through our differences, we will find our greatest strengths
The Beautiful You MRKH Foundation is the largest non-profit organization devoted to MRKH in the world, with a reach of over 15,000 people monthly. Our membership encompasses people of all cultures, ethnicities, racial groups, religions and sexual gender identities. Our mission is to create a supportive community that partners with health care professionals to increase awareness and empower women of all ages with MRKH to feel beautiful, just as they are. Our goals are to: 1. Support teens, women, and families; 2. Advocate for MRKH; 3. Disseminate medically-accurate information; 4. Improve health care for MRKH; and 5. Fund research on MRKH.
To meet goal one, we sponsor, co-host, and attend 10 to 20 MRKH Conferences and meet-ups across the U.S and internationally. Our day-long conferences combine education with support and typically reach 75 people. Meet-ups offer smaller, more intimate settings where people find support and a sense of family. The most important component of these activities is that they bring people together in a safe space with others that share their diagnosis, challenges, concerns, and triumphs.
All funds raised during this campaign will be used to help send teens, women and families affected by MRKH to one of the BYMRKH meetings or conferences. We truly appreciate your support in helping us “Give back” to this worthy cause. Thank you!
